About the lectures

In Pursuit of Play

Jon Back’s work has long centered around the playful side of life. In this talk Jon will present his approach to playful design explorations, using playfulness both as a critique and a constructive design approach. With a strong belief that it is important to care also for the
frivolous, he will present a mix of design and research to build an understanding of why you should play more, not only in your private life but also at work! We will see practical examples from previous and current projects, including playground design, museum interactions, and citizen dialogues. And maybe you will also get a sneak-peek into some upcoming projects.

Let’s dare to be Serious about the Unserious!

Jon Back is a senior lecturer in Human Computer Interaction at Uppsala University. His research is centered around playful design explorations in the borderland between the physical and the digital, with a strong focus on value-based activity-design to create feelings and emotions. He has a broad background in computer programming, design, pedagogical communication and game design.

In Pursuit of Quality

When Freddy Gustavssson applied for the Software Engineering program at Campus Gotland, his goal was clear. Fredrik wanted to get a better understanding of computers and software development in order to become a successful software testing professional. Fifteen years after the graduation, he is still in the business, spending the days navigating the everyday challenges of creating high-quality solutions. In this talk Freddy will share some of his experiences and learnings with you.

Freddy Gustavsson works as a consultant at System Verification, a company that specialises in software quality assurance. His main focus is software testing and test management. Furthermore, he also enjoys working with requirements and education. He was a student in Software Engineering at Campus Gotland from 2003 to 2006.
