The University
Uppsala University is the oldest university in the Nordic region and was founded in 1477.

The university has around 24,000 full-time students spread across nine faculties with several different campuses spread out in and around Uppsala city. The Bachelor's program in Systems Science belongs to the Department of Informatics and Media, where most of the teaching takes place at Ekonomikum, which is located in the middle of the city.

History & Traditions
In the 540 years since the university was founded, lots of fun traditions and cultures have emerged! One of the more famous traditions is Valborg, where students from all over Sweden make a pilgrimage to Uppsala to participate in the party of the year! Valborg includes lots of fun activities such as rafting where happy students go dressed up along the Fyrisån River on homemade rafts, the "mösspåtagning" in Karolinabacken and not least the champagne gallop where, in true student fashion, champagne is gleefully sprayed around.

Nations
One of the things that makes Uppsala Sweden's best student city is the 13 nations.

Most nations were created as early as the 17th century and have since provided students with everything from the feeling of a second home to cheap beer and great food at the nation pubs.

When you become a member, you not only get access to affordable food, but also music and sports activities, festivities such as balls and gasques. The nations also provide libraries and study spaces for the more ambitious student.

The Nation Guide is a good website to keep track of activities at the nations. There you can see which nations have clubs or pubs, opening hours for the nation restaurants and if there are any special events planned.

The nations also have student housing that they rent out to their members. A tip for those looking for housing is to find out which nation offers which type of accommodation and how long the queue is usually to be offered something.

Do you want to get involved?
The nations are also a meeting place for students to find friends and contacts. All nation activities are student-driven and the nations are always looking for committed students who, for a little money or other benefits such as being able to go first in line at the clubs (this should not be underestimated!), want to work. The jobs can be anything from serving food at the pubs, mixing good drinks at the clubs or maybe baking a really good sandwich cake for the nations' Sunday coffee.
