Below is a glossary that can be useful to have as a new student!

Freshman – new student at Uppsala University

Recce – shortened and more frequently used version of ”recentior”

Echo – abbreviation of Ekonomikum, which is the campus of systems scientists

The locomotive sheds – a part of Eko where the large lecture halls are located. It got its name because the building resembles locomotive sheds.

Bumblebee – Ekonomikum's cafeteria and dining room, also known as "the savior in times of need when you've forgotten your lunch box or coffee thermos"”

Sitting – a type of party that includes food, drinks, singing and subsequent dancing. Dancing – a club that is held after a session, usually in the same venue but tables and chairs are replaced with a DJ and dance floor.

Gasque – a finer seating area where three-course meals are usually served and there is a stricter dress code

Full session – more relaxed seating without a dress code and with fewer dishes

AK – academic quarter, means that something starts a quarter after the scheduled time. For example, if something starts at 6pm, it is okay to arrive between 6:00 and 6:15pm.

DK – quarter past, means that something starts half an hour after the scheduled time.
