Uppsala Systemvetare is launching a recruitment period for the first time ever for autumn 2019-winter 2020! Do you want to enhance your study time in Uppsala, meet new people, gain valuable experience on your CV and attend exclusive sessions and events? Then you should get involved in Uppsala Systemvetare as an active member! Below is a list of the positions that the association's committee is advertising.

Business and Industry Committee

Lunch Lecture Manager

Number: 1pc
Description: The role involves holding the lunch lectures that the committee arranges together with various companies. The association has an average of one to two lunch lectures per month. The lunch lecture manager is responsible for welcoming everyone and giving a quick introduction to the lecturer. Before each lecture, a room also needs to be booked and lunch ordered from Humlan. Whoever has this role gets a unique opportunity for personal contact with the companies that are lecturing. He or she will be responsible for receiving the company representatives and being the association's face to them.
Time period for the role: November 2019 – until the next appointment period.
Previous knowledge: This role requires no previous experience and has clear and simple recurring routines.

Project manager company evening

Number: 1pc
Description: The company evening is the association's largest company event with up to a hundred students and 4-5 companies present. The companies bring a case similar to those that often appear in recruitment processes. The evening is a fantastic opportunity for our members to try and understand more of what can come up during a recruitment process and to get to know a potential employer better. The role of project manager is a great opportunity to build experience in leading, shaping and running projects. The project manager's most important job is to ensure that the project moves forward and to support other project members in their work. The important thing is to tie things together and have an overview of the work of bringing in companies for the evening and to ensure that rooms are booked and food is ordered. The project manager will work closely with the chairman and vice chairman in their work and will have the full support of the business committee. Material from previous company evenings will also be available to facilitate the work.
Period: Autumn 19 – February 2020
Previous knowledge: As the role involves greater responsibility, it is good and meritorious to have previous experience of working on projects, or have similar experience from other contexts. However, experience is not a requirement. The most important thing is a great commitment and a clear drive to create a successful company evening!

Project member Logistics Business Evening

Description: The company evening is the association's largest company event with up to a hundred students and 4-5 companies on site. The companies come with a case similar to those that often appear in recruitment processes. The evening is a fantastic opportunity for our members to try and understand more of what can appear during a recruitment process and to get to know a potential employer better. Rooms, Food and decoration! It couldn't be better. These will be some of the things that the logistics group will be responsible for in the project. This role is a great first step to take when it comes to project work. It includes, among other things, setting the menu for the evening, buying decorations and booking rooms. The role will have good support from the project manager and the business committee's board representatives.

Period: Autumn 19 – February 2020

Previous knowledge: No experience is required and it is a good opportunity to gain insight and experience of what project work involves. A fun opportunity to be part of a fantastic event and incredibly fun association.

Project member Company representative Company evening

Number: 3pcs
Description: The Company Evening is the association's largest company event with up to a hundred students and 4-5 companies present. The companies will bring a case similar to those that often appear in recruitment processes. The evening is a fantastic opportunity for our members to try and understand more of what can come up during a recruitment process and to get to know a potential employer better. The work as a company representative will primarily involve contacting companies that may be interested in participating in the Company Evening. The companies can be previous contacts, participants or companies that would simply be fun to have there. If you are interested in making contacts and trying out what it is like to work with company contacts, this is a very good opportunity. Support from the project manager and the business committee will of course be available, but the role is perfect for those who want to take their own initiative. As a company representative, you will also accompany a company during the evening and ensure that they find their room and that they feel welcome throughout the event. A fantastic opportunity for personal contact with a potential employer!

Period: Autumn 19 – February 2020

PR Committee

Photographer

Number: 2
Description: The role means that you, as a representative of the Uppsala Systemvetares förening, will photograph events during the semester. Those applying for this role are expected to have their own camera and an interest in photography. In addition to photographing, the The tasks include processing and sorting through images. The role is suitable for those who have not been involved before.
Active period: HT19-VT20

Producer Project Manager 

Number: 1
Description: As a producer, your main task is to create promotional films for larger events. Experience in filming and editing is a requirement, the association provides Adobe Premiere Pro but you are expected to have your own equipment for filming. The tasks vary and include everything from coming up with an idea to planning and finding possible actors. The role suits you who are driven and independent and have some experience in leading a project.

Merchandise Manager

Number: 1
Description: As Merchandise Manager, you handle all communication between the association and its suppliers of merchandise, such as T-shirts, tote bags, backpacks, and more. In addition to this, you will handle the tasks related to purchasing, such as collecting information necessary for orders and contacting the association's Graphic Designer. No previous experience is required for this role. The role is good for those who have not been involved before. Note that this role is not involved in the design and layout of the merchandise.

Project manager association ribbon/pin

Number: 1
Description: This role is responsible for designing festive accessories for Uppsala Systemvetare. The project is temporary and runs until the end of this semester, a product should be available at the beginning of the spring semester 2020. As a project manager, you are responsible for compiling a design and maintaining close contact with the Merchandise Manager. The festive accessories include a system scientist pin in different designs, a tailcoat ribbon and a medal. The assignment is suitable for those who have been involved previously or have experience working in projects.

Education Committee

SamSek representative

Number: 1
Description: The role means that you, as a representative of the Uppsala Systemvetare Association, will participate in SamSek meetings. SamSek stands for the Social Sciences Section and is part of the Uppsala Student Union to which Uppsala Systemvetare belongs and our contact with the faculty. They usually offer coffee, fika and also have kickoffs with delicious dinners! Meetings take place twice a month. No previous knowledge is required (!) but it can be good if you have an interest in our educational standard.

Student housing manager

Number: 2
Description: This role involves planning and implementing study camps, helping students and bringing together students who can teach. You don't have to love being in the spotlight, but if the spotlight is something you enjoy, this is a place where you can shine! *blingbling*  There is also plenty of space for mingling if that's what you're looking for 😉 A great way to get a foot in the association and no previous experience is required.

Study representative in the program council

Number: 2
Description: As a student representative in the program council, you attend meetings and represent the Systems Science program. A prerequisite for success is that you are involved and active in the Education Committee! Program council meetings are usually only 2-3 per semester (i.e. not many at all). This role requires no prior knowledge and the only thing you need to bring with you is “your head” (quote: Director of Studies Anneli<3). Why this role? Answer: Good grades and certificates are awarded! A way for you to gain insight into the department, meet media scholars and be (seem) important!

Event Committee

Clubhouse

Number: 3 pcs
Description: As an active member of the club administration, you will help out at all the upcoming events of the US event committee. As a general club worker, you will work together with the responsible people and their areas within the club administration. You will be a larger group, which means that many people will be helped. A good way to get involved and learn how to work within the event committee.
Job duties: Event planning, everything from venue booking, food, entertainment, to administrative tasks such as creating a budget for the event.
Active period: HT19-VT20
Previous knowledge: No prior knowledge is required, this is suitable for those who find it fun to plan events and help our members have a fun time outside of their studies!

Pub tour manager

Number: 1pc
Description: You are responsible for ensuring that there is one pub crawl per semester.
Job duties: Book a day, nations, and make a plan and plan for a pub crawl.
Previous knowledge: No prior knowledge is required. This is suitable for those who want to try their hand at holding and planning events.
Active period: HT19-VT20

Major events

Number: 1pc
Description: The biggest task for this person is to be responsible for a Christmas party. You will also be a helping hand to the chairman/vice chairman at larger events, such as gasque or balls.
Job duties: This could include booking a venue, planning food, budget, entertainment and logistics for the association's event.
Previous knowledge: No prior knowledge is required, but it can be good to be organized and have planned an event before and be a little used to taking responsibility.
Period: HT19-VT20

Smaller events

Number: 1pc
Description:Events that are smaller and do not need to include festivities. It could be for example: football, paintball, laser game or bowling night. Smaller events that our members can do together! Doesn't require much planning or budget, imagination sets the limits!
Job duties: Plan and implement smaller events for our members! One or a few small events per semester!
Previous knowledge: No, if you have good ideas for small events that we can come up with. You can book and plan a day or evening activity and take care of the logistics around this.

Destination Unknown Project Group

Number: 3pcs
Description: Those responsible will plan a joint trip with US in the spring, an unknown destination! The group will work with the chairman and vice chairman of the event committee but will be largely responsible for themselves.
Job duties: Structure and plan a joint trip. Be able to make a budget and a feasible plan both before, but also during the trip. For example, activities we could do during the trip, but also book travel and accommodation, etc.
Previous knowledge: No prior knowledge required. Preferably have planned a group trip or some larger event before, overall should be planned and organized, and tagged of course!

 IT Committee

Developer

Number: 3pcs
Description: As a developer, you will work together with the committee to receive tasks related to web development. It can be anything from a small change to the website to larger projects such as building an admin page for the insparks app. For larger projects, there may be a project group with several people involved. If you apply for this role, we will adapt it to you, so as long as there is interest, it will flow nicely!
Previous knowledge: Have a basic understanding of html, css, javascript and any backend.
Suitable for you as: Have a hobby interest in coding and want to learn more.

Progpubs manager

Number: 2pcs
Description: As prog pub managers, you will be responsible for keeping in touch with the nation/venue that we decide to use. You will work with the committee to plan activities and themes for the evenings and then be there to make sure everything runs smoothly. We aim to have a prog pub every month!
Previous knowledge: No!
Suitable for you as: Want to get involved in IT, but participate in something less technical than a developer role.
